I just read some posts talking about 0.1 deg variations and that the apex may not be reached, etc.  Also, there was talk about very slight thickness changes of the handles (grit to grit) due to diamond sizes, inherent “ability” of a handle to find the apex, etc.  that raises a few questions for me as a kitchen knife guy (blades from 3″ to 12″ long)

    1.  Does the standard angle cube need to be plumb for a correct measurement ?

    2. Does the suggested newer angle cube (DXL360S) correct for this ?

    3.  What does this mean for the Al Oxide films on glass which I would think have tiny, tiny thickness differences ?

    4.  In the static mode, I have noticed a different angle (~0.4 deg) depending on exactly where I hold the handle due to slop in the rod/handle.  In the dynamic mode, of course you can’t tell. Does all this tolerance variability really matter ?

As an FYI, I am able to get extremely sharp edges (I think) based off a full burr when going from scratch and a sharpie for redo’s.
