For all you new Wicked Edge GO users, welcome! If you're just getting here after receiving your unit, please say hello. There are some pretty technical conversations that happen on the forum, which can be a lot of fun for more experienced users, but might feel intimidating if you're brand new. Please don't let that get to you! The forum is full of very kind and helpful people that would love to share their experience to help you with your sharpening questions. To get started, remember the basics:
- Practice safety from the very beginning so you develop good habits to protect your hands while sharpening.
- Start with inexpensive knives to help you build confidence while your stones are breaking in.
- Don't judge your results until you've done a few knives and your stones have broken in a little.
- Be sure to reach the apex of the blade with both bevels by using the marker and drawing a burr.
- Remember that your results will continue to get better and better the more you use the sharpener.
- Reach out with questions about any challenges you face.
For our experienced forum members:
- Remember that a lot of new GO users have stones going up to 600 grit. Please offer advice appropriate to the stones they have and remember that a well broken-in 600 grit stones can provide a great working edge.
- Don't get too technical right off, stick to the basics in troubleshooting.
