hello, I’m new to this board. I enjoy reading all the great information and expertise on the WE here.
Got upgrade II kit with the riser & new ball joints & wanted to ask advice.

is there a reliable way other than trial & error ensure perfect centering of the knife? My bevels from one side of the blade to the other are always a tiny fraction of an angle different. I do use the 2-pronged guide to sit the blade heel on – but I’m not talking about gross centering here. I’m talking about exact, precise, perfect centering.

also, what’s the best lube for the steel ball to aluminum contacts – ?mineral oil ?silicone oil ?Rem oil ?militec?

also, my top screw tightener for the aluminum pyramid clamp still pokes through to the other side & damages the diamond stones. Should I grind it down or does Clay offer an upgrade to the pyramid clamp & screw kit to fix this too?

    Thanks all.

    Have you read this thread

As far as the screw getting hit, you may need to ge a shorter screw, or position the knife above the upper holes and tighten upper screw just
enough for contact, and tighten mostly with bottom screw. You may have to fiddle a bit, and be aware that you could possibly bend the vice jaws if you torque the bottom screw too much.

Haven’t lubed anything on my WE.

Check out – WE Wiki under Resources on the web page – In the “New User Info” these is a number of videos and discussion on bevels, might help.

I do use the Rem oil every so often to lube and clean out the arm joint. The rem oil is light, so no concern it might gum up the works.

This has been discussed a few times before, I remember Clay saying he would include a shorter screw.

    Will this still happen?

The ball-bearing joint Clay uses has a nylon bearing “race”.
Nylon is meant to be self lubricating.

Water is a lubricant for nylon.

I would not use anything that could react with nylon.
