Stable USB Microscope Stand

Some pictures of a USB microscope stand that I made from PVC pipe and fittings. It will articulate in 4 ways and feet swivel.

Nice looking work Skip, dare I call it cute? :stuck_out_tongue:

I was thinking of mounting an articulating or flexible arm from the wall but the stand seems great to slide it out of the way and along the length of blade without fiddling.

BTW what kind of scope did you get and do you like it?

Cliff, it’s a Dino-Lite. I believe this is the one I have from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Dino-Lite-AM4113T-Handheld-Digital-Microscope/dp/B00MQ5KU7U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420406528&sr=8-1&keywords=AM4113T+Dino-Lite

Dino-Lite (http://www.dino-lite.com/web/index.html) makes many USB microscopes.

It’s OK for what it does, but the field of focus is narrow, making it difficult to hand hold, keep it in focus, and take a picture all at the same time. Thus the impetus for building the stand.

I made my stand from 3/4" PVC (except for the tube that holds the scope- it is 1 1/4" PVC). If I had it to do over, or if I build another, I think I would use 1/2" PVC.
