Pics of recent knife work

Figured I’d spice it up a little bit and show some different knives and what I’ve been up to… all knives that have been reground get the WE treatment as they deserve nothing less and anything powered would destroy the nice thin edge I just created. You will see some before and some after pics. and just for the record, no tactical knives are not the only thing I work on lol… it’s just mainly all i get! hehe. :side: Enjoy!

This one was challenging to sharpen… good thing I had some custom mods to accomodate!!

Yes, the scales were anodized by me (well, my wife actually ;))

Here’s just a basic regrind w/ fixing the tip up somewhat:

This CQC-7 I just cerakoted it black then gave it the 'ole stone progression up through my 1k’s!

And this ZT 0561… I cerakoted the Ti scale OD green then gave it a work over: Blade regrind w/ dual grind, hollow on main spanto/flat at tip, added finger choil, enhanced lock cut out. Look at the beaufiul nice thin Wicked edge!!

Here’s a different ZT w/ same grind:

And now is another grind conversion… Emerson mini roadhouse!

And finally, just completed today, an Alphahunter Warhorse that had a recurve that was not supposed to be there! Fixed it w/ a regrind and mirrored the tip

So much inspiration goodness…thanks for sharing your work Josh!

I started playing with my little 1x30 grinder for the first time today. Its a whole new skill set to learn for sure…

Do you use jigs and angle braces when reprofiling on some of these? Just curious how to work on getting smooth grind lines and profiles.

Love the extra thin edge bevel contrasting with the stonewashed(?) blade on that one btw! B)

Again WOW! Nice work man. I keep going back to that Emerson. Did you use a seperate oven for the Creakote? I thought about that awhile back when I was recoating a couple of guns, but my wife banned me from using her oven.

Arguably the definition of perfection…

And I love how your WIFE anodizes! That’s so awesome!

Yes I have a seperate oven in my shop that is controlled w/ a digital PID controller for close to exact temps… Works GREAT! But yeah it does put off a smell! Fortunately I don’t really notice as I wear a mask almost all of the time in my shop =)

No, it is all freehand =) I wanted to learn freehand because sometimes jigs just won’t work and you will be much more limited w/ jigs… although they do prevent messing up as much! It’s amazing how one little slip can mess something up on one of these!

Not to Krein level… yet… but I try! And yeah, she has learned a bunch about anodizing! She does great research about the different grades of Ti and what to do w/ them. I don’t have time for all that!

Hmmm?..Krein?.. Pitbull logo?

Yup! He was famous for regrinds but now does not do them anymore just makes custom knives =)

Ok, yeah! And I have seen a few shots of that dude’s regrinds. I’ll tell you this, side-by-side, I wouldn’t be able to peg his work over yours, so don’t sell yourself short…Seriously… And seriously.

So stoked about this… While Clay and the team have been going through their shop transition, I will be going through my own here shortly!! I currently am working out of an 8x16 enclosed trailer, so this will be SOOOO nice, and I can build a proper paint booth for Cerakoting =) This just got in yesterday… 12x40. I still have a ton of work to do before I can move in though… frame out paint booth and small room for my new air compressor, wire electrical, insulate, install mini split AC unit, etc hehe.

I’m stoked for ya, buddy! And I definitely look forward to seeing all the progress as it comes!

Congrats! That is going to be one awsome shope space man.

I’m very happy for you, Josh! That looks like a very practical place to work. Congratulations!

Obviously we want to see some pictures of the interior in a while

Very nice work and congrats on the new work space

Freggin Awesome! I have been busy trying to get my existing shop space more set up and ready to run lately. You have a whole new space! Jealous!! Super excited for you Josh! It will be fun to watch the transformation!

Also huge congrats Josh, I love how you just wheeled that bad boy right in! Looks like it was a tight squeeze there for a sec? hehe :stuck_out_tongue:

Doubling down on the cant wait for you to give us a virtual tour or something. So much room in there to do different things.

Nothing in the World quite like being self employeed and making strides forward with your business. Hats off to you man… B)

Well I didn’t wheel that thing in there… it was a one man show, the delivery guy backed it in, unloaded it and put the blocks in it with practically no help. It was amazing to see that’s for sure!

So how about our pig we slaughtered last fall that we sealed and put in the freezer, we just took out Wed. and began curing the second serving of BACON mmmmm! hehe. first, packed it w/ salt/pepper/maple syrup for a few days. Then today, I smoked it until it reached 155F. Next, cut it up into nice thin slices… however, I needed a nice thin edged knife to do it that had a wicked edge  so I reground our big knife as the edge was getting a little thick (to about .004") and put a 15 dps edge on it with the Wicked Edge - handled it NICE

Looks yummy! Hosting an inlaw family reunion at my place this weekend. Broke in father in laws electric smoker with 2chickens today. Tomorrow will be the pork butts. Bacon though. Mmmmmmm

16" serrated christmas tree shearing blades… fun fun! This is so not wicked edge related, I know, but thought some would get a kick out of it :side: … there was a time when I would dread sharpening these. I am looking forward to the serrated sharpening attachment for the Wicked Edge though! Send me one when you get a prototype Clay… I’ll test it out for ya

Well, I still dread sharpening knives like this. The only way I know of to sharpen them is with the Spyderco Sharpmaker. How on earth could someone get a collection of knives like this?

Congratulations! :stuck_out_tongue:
