Hi my name is Pete and I been a knife nut since my first Boy Scout knife at the age of 9. My user name is P Grits which is a term of endearment from my two boys.I been on the fence about getting the Wicked Edge system for sometime. Well Friday I called and was surprised that Clay answered the phone. After talking about the systems and what I wanted to do with it, I order the Pro Pak 2 and the 50/80 grits. Clay suggested that I join the forum and that member are more than happy to answer any question along the way. So Thanks and Thank you Clay for the support.

Hey Pete! Glad to have you join the ranks man. Check out the “wiki” section under the “resources” tab at the top… a lot of good info there too =)
Hi Pete, welcome to the forum! I’m sure you will enjoy your WEPS!
There is a lot of information here. Starting with the Wiki, as Josh suggested, is a good idea. But if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
You are welcome here Pete! Please don’t hesitate to ask questions…there are many here who will jump in to help you. Also don’t be shy about relating your experiences or responding to posts by others. Welcome! Congrats on getting the WE.
You’ll find that Clay, the folks at WE and the people here on the forum are much friendlier, committed and much more helpful than they first appear! ![]()
So I don’t have to retype, I’m quoting myself from welcoming someone else new to WE…
I predict you will not have buyer's remorse! (A pretty easy prediction to make!!)
I got my PP2 just over a year ago. I got the same standard package you purchased and have since added the 50/80 grinder steels and the VSTA. So, that's my progression -- stock, so to speak.
Typically, just doing kitchen knives I don't even use the whole set: usually stopping at 1000. But on friends nicer EDC I will use the whole "stock" progression. (Some say then to go back and put a toothy micro-bevel on that beautiful mirror edge. And that works great, too.)
Thinking about it now, I'd hazard a guess 90% of the population of Seattle has never seen sharper, shinier knives and I know, so far, none of my friends had.
So, just my perspective from the bottom looking up. The stock progression results in an edge that is far superior in "most" people's experience.
All that being said, there’s whole world’s of sharpening beyond the standard progression.
Listen to the sounds. Have patience. Have fun.
Hey all.. Just ordered the Pro 1 with Pro2 stones. Looking forward to the arrival of the set. Joined the forums to do a bunch of learning. Have plenty of trash knives to practice on before I start touching my fine cutlery. Thanks for all help up front.
