Thanks guys. Going to keep it going. I’m torn about the arms. I feel like the upgraded arms would help me a lot, but with the results I’m getting now I don’t want to drop 175$ more. It’s crazy to think that I have to sharpen 20 more knives for the stones to break in. 8 don’t have that many lol. The kitchen knives are all serrated, I just checked so they’re out.

Looks like you’re doing well! Here’s what I did for practice: Went to the local Salvation Army and picked up 12 knives for under $5.00…..Good practice/stone break-in and one of the knives I got was a 12″ Forstner with rosewood handle (didn’t even notice that until a few days later). :woohoo:

Looks like all your hard work is paying off Tuffy. People are seeing you at these places on a regular schedule and they are remembering to bring their knives with them before leaving the house. Good job on your part by showing up on a schedule!

I just sharpened one of my Henckels last night. 15 dps with 18 dps micro bevel. I took the 15 degree bevel to 1000 grit. Did the 18 degree with 3 or 4 light strokes with 1000 grit, then finished it with 3 light strokes with 1200 ceramic. I will let you know how it holds up. I don’t know what kind of steel they are made of, I bought a block set 20 years ago.

Tuffy, could you tell me where you bought the gloves you wear while sharpening please? Also, can you feel a burr edge with them on? Thank you.

I saw a guy, can’t remember who, used a Pelican case. Not sure what mods. were required, but you could put co. logo, business name etc. on it if you wanted to advertise yourself vs. name of equip.
