I always wonder on how to sharpen narrow blades like those small blades on Victorinox knives. Those blades are so small and they are sharpened at quite low angles. If you put them, even at the top pins in the vise and want to sharpen them at a low angle like 15, you can’t avoid touching the jaws with the stones. Usually, I try to tightened the blade at the very top of the vise. But doing so, I loose the advantage of being able to put the blade in the same place on any further sharpening.

What are your tips and suggestions on this kind of situation?

    Thanks!

PS. Sorry for my poor English.

The short answer is, you probably can’t go that low on a small blade, with a standard setup. You can get around 20-21 degrees.

Take a look at this thread on sharpening small blades… it has some additional info.

    Thank you Curtis,
I’ve taken a look at the thread and found that Tormek accessory for small blades. I didn’t know about it. it seems good. I’ve ordered it to give it a try.
