    Would a magnifier with 12x work just for quick look at the blade to make sure all the marker is off??

    If that’s the goal, you can even see that with you naked eye. But a loupe definitely helps in inspecting the edge.

    I’m in no way an expert but I use 10x magnifier and it works for me. Tried 40-60x but so darn har to focus.
