I noticed recently that there are new lapping films in Aluminum Oxide. How do these differ from the standard Diamond lapping films?

Sorry if it’s a repost, couldn’t find a thread on it.

Good question. They both do the job but the diamond films are faster and more durable, also a more expensive.

I have no experience with the AO films, but the diamond films are really good. It is astounding how rapidly they produce a mirrored finish.

I just finished ordering  a set of the 1500 Grit diamond stones and  3, 5, and 9 micron Aluminum Oxide films. I’ve never used the films before so for the cost I thought it would be a cheap way to get into trying them without breaking the bank.  So now I’ve added on to the Pro Pack 1 with 1200/1600 ceramics, 1500 diamonds, 14/10 and 1/0.5 micron strops.  Man this knife habit is starting to add up! lol

^^^  So true.  And now I went and did something really stupid…..I bought myself a Tormek T8.  With my Wicked Edge Gen 3 Pro, and my new Tormek T8, I’m afraid there’s no longer any hope for me.
