I just wanted a liiiiittle bit more clearance, especially when doing edge leading passes from heal to tip. So, after chatting with a fellow trusted board member a while back regarding the unnecessary 3/4″ deep internal threading (manufactured that way, not machined by WE) on the ball joints, I decided to go ahead and cut roughly 5/8″ off the top. Not only does it help prevent the stones from bottoming out before reaching the tip, it also opens up a little more stone real estate.

NOTE: If you decide to give this mod a shot, please be aware it will likely void some sort of warranty. Measure twice, cut once. Also, it’s important to protect the joint itself with tape, etc.
Thank you as always!
