Welcome to the [WordPress] forum

I too am anxious for the edit option. I need to be able to erase something stupid I might have said in the wee hours.

Please give it a try, to edit one of your posts. I’ve adjusted a setting, and I’m hoping it’ll now allow you to edit.

The operative word would be “how”…Im sorry but I just dont see an option to edit. :frowning:

I am now getting the “edit” option. Thanks, Chris.

Cliff; it appears on the bar above your post, next to the “Reply” and “Quote” buttons.

And this line was added, using the “edit” button!!

Ive made a google photo web album, uploaded my photos there, and made sure they are under 512mb in size…please help, now need instructions how to get image to show inline as before.

My first 2 failed attempts have left permanent error messages at bottom of post, and the link in post body just shows as link.

Thanks, Cliff

Edit: I figured out how to add photos inline by simply copy/paste of the image…not the URL as I had imagined. Lingering error messages along the bottom still a mystery.

Try:

[ I M G ] URL [ / I M G ]

But then without the spaces. So, for example

[ I M G ] https://japaneseknifereviews.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/tomatoes.jpg [ / I M G ]

without the spaces produces:

Thanks Mark, I had actually went to your last successful post and look and the source code in another failed attempt before good old trial & error and plain stubbornness perfailed yet again!

By opening an image and simply selecting “copy image” instead of the other possibilities, you can then "paste’ it right in the post and even visually see the picture in the edit window!

Possible Pro Tip: I opened 2 windows side by side. Left side had the original post with the attachments now listed at the bottom of post. By simply opening each attachment I could then copy it to the right window and paste back into an open edit version of the same post.

I really like having the pics inline to help tell show the progression of things. :):)

Hey guys, my first post here. I have been reading a few days on the new format. I may have missed this along the way. Is it still possible to see X of Y unread posts? An click that link to take you to your “unread” posts on a given thread? With the previous format if someone started a new thread and got 5 replies I would see 5 new posts. I would read them. The next day he gets 2 new posts. I would logon and it would say “2 New” and take me to the 2 new ones. Very nice for old threads with 5 pages of posts to go to end to see just the new posts.

Please let me know your thoughts. Would it be easiest just to make the text black, rather than some text (links, titles, etc.) in orange?

I’ve tried blue on the dev site, just doesn’t look very good. I’m in favor of making it easy to read, as a much bigger consideration than just looks.

Here’s what the blue looks like

I think the blue is already better than orange. Maybe dark blue or black would be even better.

One thing about the white spacing on the main subforum pages: I noticed that in the column for date/poster an entire line is taken for either the word am or pm. By reducing text size a little (or increasing column width) you could remove one almost entirely white line.

Don’t know if it’s just me, but everytime I submit a post or navigate around on the new forum it lags about 8-20 seconds before switching to the new page… Anyone else having this issue?

Not seeing all pictures e.g. In the “thankful for you all” thread, I don’t see the picture Cliff posted.

Using same iPad as before forum changed.

Ive re-added the photo twice. It will show up for a few hours but then disappears.

The image was directly copy/pasted from my online google photos album. If I should be posting differently to have them show up inline Id sure like to know…?

Heres the link to my google photo that keep disappearing:

I havent been sharing it as a link, but just copying & pasting the image directly into the body of post. Maybe I should also attach it below the post as a file?

Appreciate the offer to host and help troubleshoot. Id rather just keep my photos where they are and figure out what the problem is as it sits.

Im probably not inserting the image correctly. Again for whoever reads this…I have been simply cutting & pasting into the body of the post. It works but then later it disappears.

Should I be posting a URL inside something like this: [pic] https://goo.gl/photos/16u8Y5QovPUxErUFA[/pic]

That’s correct Cliff, instead of posting it directly into the main body of text, above where you are typing you will notice a symbol next to the hyperlink symbol that looks like a mountain, that’s what you click on and insert your picture link. Testing this one to make sure it works using the same method from my google + album…

Josh, thanks for the help with this as well…I am still stuck.

How are you specifically getting the link from your google photo album? Shareable link? Or right click the image and Copy Image URL?

Ive tried both and more in the dialog box that opens up after you hit the Mountain Icon…arghhh, feeling slightly oafish! :frowning:

Yes I enter the picture so it’s full screen on my Google + page then right click and copy the url… Then put it in the url box here and don’t change any settings and it works perfect. Send me the link to your album and I’ll see if I can get it to post…

Finally I got it to work! There was a problem…my pictures where not in an “album”. There were just all there unsorted on my main page.

Not sure at all why that should make a difference but it does and its a deal breaker if you dont have a dedicated album you are sharing from.

Once I created an album and transferred a few over the shareable link works.

Thanks all for the help…now I can get back to the much less frustrating task of changing a motor mount. LOLOL :stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed in most cases…with the possible exception being if the car only has 3, and 1 is hydraulic that is known to fail…oh and the car is a 2004 ford focus popcorn car.

Jobs completed & runs smoother then when we bought it for $80 and 1/2hr easy labor. Thanks to YouTube once again!
