I am looking to buy some more strops. I am going with the 10/14 and the 3.5 paste. And I already have the 1 and .5 .
The diamond sprays are really getting my attention now. I will probably stop with the. 25 spray. My question is what strops work the best with these four compounds? I am wanting the Scary sharpness!!
I used to say cow or horse hide… but now my preference is balsa. no rounding issues and it holds the compound great!
Balsa is a great choice except for the really low high grits. When you get to the .5’s and .25’s you either need to use nanocloth or kangaroo leather. If you don’t…the leather or balsa will overwhelm the paste.
