PP2 Arm Upgrade...

My father was kind enough to buy his 30 year-old son, me, the upgraded ball joint arms for Christmas! However, he purchased them ON Christmas day and paid extra for them to be shipped via UPS 2-Day Air. Within an hour after the purchase he got a confirmation email from Hollow Point LLC saying the order was processed. He responded asking for a tracking number, but no response… Kinda pointless that he spent $16 extra for shipping considering he didn’t get any response to his inquiry and since the order probably won’t be delivered until sometime next week :frowning:

Like any impatient kid on Christmas, I’m simply impatient… And knives are stacking up…

While you are waiting.. Go pick yerself up a set of thick rubber kitchen dish washing gloves so you can cut off a couple of the fingers and make a cover for the ball arms. Works great. I tried a lot of different methods and this is my favorite so far.

I do the same thing with latex gloves.

Hey Eric, how you liking the panavise mod so far?!

Like it. It really came in handy for the tanto blade. Had to turn it around and really watch what I was doing on each side. Thanks!

Josh,

Don’t leave me in the dark!! Please elaborate?!

lol. See what Zamfir’s WEPS is mounted to? A panavise… makes sharpening certain things SO much easier because you can tilt or rotate it very easily. Here’s a video of mine:

By The Way..that is NOT a Panavise which is a brand name. I picked mine up at Lowes or Home Depot and saved a ton. It looks to be the exact same one Josh has but it is not the Panavise brand name..it is a Besse…lol Mooo..

Way cheaper than Panavise but I had to make my own alumnium base for it..which was easy if you have a little piece of flat aluminium around and a way to cut it and drill it. 15 bucks..

You are exactly correct… sorry, my bad!

How strong is the suction on that base? Does it stay well secured to the counter top?

Extremely strong… You can probably pick up your kitchen table with it without it coming loose.

Just learning here…why the rubber over the pivots of the ball joints? To keep metal dust/shavings out?

Yes, to keep the dust out of the ball joints.
