Look at my new rubber ball joint protections.
They’re actually protections for RC gimbals. They work perfectly.
Wow! What did you make these of, Benoit? Google doesn’t tell me much about rc gimballs.
If you do a search on “rubber gimbal”, and then click on images, you may see a gimbal cover you like.
RC is for remote/radio controlled.

they will do nicely!
Has anybody ever had any problems related to grit or filings getting into the ball joints?
Mine look perfectly clean, but I’m a hobbiest, not a pro.
i have to wash mine often, if not they get stiffer and will stay in place wherever u remove the paddles…(wash with solvent) add silicone - i need some of that grease-less oil i have seen on here.
my right one is the worst and gets stiffer first and more often, but i have never used these boots, just rubber flat washers
OK, you’ve convinced me. The rubber boot looks like an elegant, inexpensive solution to a problem I might not see for a while. I’ll have another item to fill my Amazon cart. Thanks for the idea guys!
And with the boot enclosing the ball joint, I would think you could use just about any lube. I’d use a little dab of white lithium grease.
Thanks guys!
I noticed that tuffy’s doesn’t completely enclose the ball joint itself… Are there any rubber boots that you guys have found that do this? Or is it not an issue?
This looks interesting… https://www.wickededgeusa.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=8&id=5668&Itemid=271#8078
