Well a small block of wood with the “desired angle” cut in the side and placed where the angle cube goes. Now put on top of that block a “String Level” for a reference to flat. the block of wood could be held tight to the paddle with a “rubber…[Read more]

Dwight Glass replied to the topic Tormek in the forum Techniques and Sharpening Strategies 4 years, 5 months ago
I have a “Tormak T-7” it removes metal faster then my “Wicked Edge”. I could just stop with the Tormak and have a real nice edge. But if can sharpen with just the Wicked edge that is what I prefer.
From Danny: Do you use the Tormak for more of the reprofile and repair of damaged knives then finish on the WE.
In my opinion, yes

I do not have a problem with the micro adjustment coming loose on my gen-3.
I put some large diameter weed eater line in the L-Bracket where the jam bolt hits the threaded part of the universal joint.
This weed eater cord was purchased about 10 years ago and came in the form of a 3 pound spool. It is .155″ thick I cut the cord to between 1/8″ &…[Read more]

Dwight Glass replied to the topic Using 50/80 stones in the forum Techniques and Sharpening Strategies 4 years, 8 months ago
From redheads: So, how are we supposed to know when they are broken in fully tip to toe. Also, how are we supposed to know when we should replace them.
If I can get the edge of a knife to catch on the body of a “Sharpie”, after it has been sharpened with only the 50 or 80 grit, that stone is “broke in”.
I replace my diamond stones when the…[Read more]

Dwight Glass replied to the topic numbers indicating each stone's grit already wearing off? in the forum Suggestion Box 4 years, 8 months ago
I did not realize until Clay asked for feed back that my newest paddles that I have do not have any numbers on them except for a slight dent in the plastic.
where the grit number should be there is only plastic of the paddle.
I sharpen no less than 7 knives a week.
The plastic for the stones is two tone, no black plastic in the middle.

In the L bracket the threads for the thumb screw go all the way through so I put a nylon bolt in those threads on the back side of the L bracket. that stopped the “Wicked Edge” thumb screw from vibrating out.
I have the old L bracket that was made before 2017. I do not own the new version.

Mr.Wizard (Why?)
Leather is something I have used on my straight razor over 50 years. Old Beliefs are hard to change. Especially when I still Use the razor.
So maybe I just have hard time putting Diamonds on leather when I know leather works just fine.

Dwight Glass replied to the topic Which Strops to start with? in the forum Stropping 5 years ago
I use Kangaroo with “Neatsfoot Oil” to soften Leather, no Diamond on the leather right now.
I have tried cow leather on the “Wicked Edge” with good results.
I did try a fine Diamond spray about a year ago, but went back to Leather with out Diamond on it.

Jon J look again at what Clay said (If you purchased the Pro-Pack 3, then the vice will fit.) the end of 1st sentence. the next sentence dose not apply to you because you are not asking about a Pro-Pack 2. Clay is saying you do not need to sell your carrying case, your new vice will fit just fine in that case.

Hi Tom Nikitas welcome. I sharpen Knives for two local restaurants. I think I charge a little less than what most of the local restaurants are paying which last I checked was about $15 for 3 knives sharpened every 2 weeks and $17.50 for 4 knives. Some not all restaurants can be hard on knives. One of the restaurants I sharpen for requires as part…[Read more]

yes
I was taught in my youth that a “sharpening steel” sharpens a knife in a different way than “sharpening stones”.
if you look down at a knife that had just been sharpened with stones with a microscope the edge would look straight.
then looking at the same knife after using the “steel” under the microscope instead of the edge looking straight…[Read more]

I used 1/8″ Diameter round Tungsten Carbide a little less than 5 and 1/2″ long. A Hot Glue Gun to hold the rods in blank Wicked Edge paddles.
the same angle as the stones, right after the strops.
