I guess I’m missing something here: How are WE diamond stones going to “ruin” a steel blade?? My guess is that “steel” in the steel blade isn’t what it’s claimed to be. Has anyone had the “ruined” blades Rockwell tested before they started pointing fingers at the WE system?

Yeah, it used to be fun to watch. It’s probably been over a decade since I watched it.

Yeah, I was using a chisel and assumed that a planer blade would be the same. But I don’t have a planer blade to try. I don’t do woodworking except to install a new door lock or something.

Hi Mike. My Chisel Attachment came in today. It looks good and is solidly built! I’m not the worlds greatest at geometry, but it seems to me that the average user can get to about 50°. So 45° should be no problem. That’s with the screw in the most inside hole and the guide rod adjuster screwed all the way in, and the chisel set to the stop p…[Read more]

Well you know what they say: better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I really don’t use chisels, gouges, and planers much but my son does. He loves woodworking. I love working with steel. So I bought the chisel attachment mainly for sharpening stuff for him. I also need to get a grinder with a CBN wheel to sharpen some of…[Read more]

I’ll let you know for sure in a few days when my chisel attachment gets here.

The scissor attachment is made for scissors, not planer blades. I’m sure that the chisel attachment could accommodate a 45° angle. It is made to use for sharpening chisels and planer blades.

You probably need the chisel adapter. They say that it will handle planer blades up to four inches wide.

Thanks. I’ll experiment with different grits and see what they do. I cut fabric occasionally, but I don’t cut hair.

I agree with you, Dale. I haven’t tried all the other systems though. But I did study every system that I could find online for a few days, imagining how they are used and figuring their pros and cons. One of my prerequisites was that the system did not require electricity. After a few days of study I concluded that the Wicked Edge system was the…[Read more]

Maybe they were considering the missing case as a missing component? But I do like to buy straight from the manufacturer when I can. You never know how long that company had that PP3 setting around. My PP3 I bought from WE had everything packed into the case.

I’ve always use light pressure when stropping a knife. I use a bit more pressure when I strop my Craftool Pro Swivel Knife.

Hi Marc. My new EdgeOnUp- PT50A has taught me that you are right, and I was wrong about stropping. I’ve probably made 60 or 70 cuts with it so far, so I have the test media tensioning and centering of the ATF down pretty good.
I decided to check the apex on my new Buck 120 General since I felt like playing with the PT50A some more. It was…[Read more]

The best thing to do is do it and see if you find any benefit from it. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. Let us know what you discover. Personally, I just think it’s a ploy for those guys to get some more ‘likes’ and ‘subscribers’. But I’ll bet that there have been many people that have explored it over the decades.
