I’m curious what your experiences are with powdered high speed tool steel, like ZDP-189, R2/SG2 and CPM-20CV.
I’ve got a Benchmade Griptiallian made of CPM-20CV. I like it a lot. It has a great edge retention and I can get it very sharp, too.
I have not experience with ZDP-189, R2/SG2 or any other high speed tool steels. What are your experiences, particularly when it comes to edge retention and ability to get sharp? I’ve heard good stories about R2/SG2, but never witnessed it. I’ve also heard good stories about the edge retention of ZDP-189, but it appears to be not very tough so that pieces easily break off from the edge.
