    Wicked Edge is launching some new products this week. Here are the details:

    Advanced Alignment Guide – With this tool you can record the alignment of your knife in the clamp even when you need to tilt it to find the right position for sharpening. $8.00

    10″ and 12″ Guide Rods – These are handy for sharpening long knives or sharpening knives while they are mounted in the Low Angle Adapter. The extra length of the rods decreases the play and wobble of the stones as they move toward the end of the stroke. $20.00

    I’ll order both along with a low angle adapter if the LAA allows me to take my BM 940 down to 15dps.

    With the Low Angle Adapter you’ll definitely be able to reach 15dps on your Benchmade 940, and as low as 9 degrees on larger knives. If you don’t already have a Digital Angle Cube I’d highly recommend getting one because when the Low Angle Adapter is installed on the sharpener the angle markings on the machine will no longer be accurate.

    I’m thinking that the single red line on the AAG is 5/8″ height above the jaws.

    That’s exactly right. The angle settings on the sharpener are calibrated for when the edge of the knife is 5/8″ above the top of the jaw. The red line will help you position your knife in the clamp so it is as close to the pre-calibrated settings as possible.

    <hr />

    Received my AAG(advanced alignment guide) this weekend but its opaque and need to put light behind it to see a shadow of the knife. Is this normal?

    Edit:

    its only opaque if your an idiot like me and don’t peal off the protective white film behind it, lol. It’s transparent now!

    Hi Joe,

    The white paper on the back side of the Advanced Alignment Guide should be peeled off prior to use.

    does it have to be held against the vise, or do the pins hold it in place?

    The pins of the Depth Key should hold it in place.
