Knives to be Allowed Back on Airlines!

Granted I don’t actually have any knives that fit this criteria, but it’s a good step forward, especially after having just been in NYC where virtually every pocket knife I own would land me in jail.

Learn something new every day… I always thought it was boxcutters, the hijackers used… then I just read this…

Although it was widely reported that the 9/11 hijackers used “boxcutters” in their attack, the weapons were not recovered, and investigators believe other types of knives were used.
At a January 2004 hearing of the 9/11 Commission, a commission staff member said, “Our best working hypothesis is that a number of the hijackers were carrying — permissible under the regulations in place at the time — permissible utility knives or pocket knives.”
The commission displayed a Leatherman knife, saying, “We know that at least two knives like this were actually purchased by the hijackers and have not been found in the belongings the hijackers left behind.”

Yippee! That means I’ll be able to carry this knife on board again:

It’s a real Laguiole knife in keychain size. The blade measures 2.25″ and closed it’s 2.75″.

I promise I’ll only use it as a replacement for that horrible plastic tableware you get in an airplane 🙂 .

Those are good news and it is a start, but they will be permitted only if you travel from US to US soil only. I do a lot of travel between US territory and the Caribbean also into Central America and TSA on any other country not part of the US, their rules are different, they have their own rules. I can leave the US with my carry on having my beard scissors, my nail clip and some other stuff that TSA would allowed but on my way back home I do have to check my bag, otherwise they will keep it. :dry:
