Tempted to try a Tanto blade but not sure if I should unless I can sharpen it on the WEPS. I’m guessing you just use a sharpie to get the blade placed correctly and sharpen the 2 edges separately? Just concerned about rounding the corner of the tanto…

Clay did a video on tanto blades…

The secret is not to transition the stone from one blade section to the next… treat each part separately.

My EDC go-to is a Hogue EX-01 4″ tanto and it’s been thrashed and re-sharpened on the WEPS several times now. Doing a tanto isn’t as daunting as you would think, it’s just a little more time consuming due to having to repeat your progression on two separate sections. It takes some practice to get right up to the corner without rolling it, but also close enough that the finish meets and blends instead of leaving scratches from previous grits.

That’s good to know. I just ordered a couple of tanto’s, so of course, they will be seeing some time on my WEPS very soon. B)
