Field and Sport vs WEPS

What is the difference between Field and Sport version and WE Precision Sharpener besides mounting?

WEPS description says that it has “a stainless steel insert in the fixed vise jaw to allow for more positive clamping power, a taller free vise jaw for more positive clamping power”. Is it something that Field and Sport doesn’t have? Does it mean WEPS is better?

Also Field and Sport allows 13-35 degrees angle, WEPS allows 15-30. Does it mean that F&S is better?

Are rods and ball joints the same in both versions? What are the differences besides obvious mounting options? Thank you.

It appears, from the links you referenced, that the Field and Sport model comes standard with what is in the Pro Pack Upgrade Kit… that would be an add-on to the standard WEPS… if I’m reading the descriptions correctly.  The standard WEPS doesn’t come with ‘ball and joint arms’.

I’m not sure the difference in the clamp descriptions would translate to one being ‘better’ than the other… haven’t compared them though.

Curtis is right that the guide-rod hardware in the F&S is an upgrade. The clamps in each system are essentially the same. We added the stainless steel insert to the clamps of the Precision Sharpener because we found people were stripping the threading out. It’s never been an issue with the F&S, so we didn’t add them (and the extra cost) to those units. The F&S has the Alignment Guide built into the clamp, so it’s more convenient and it also has a carrying case with stone storage. The Precision Sharpener is possibly cooler looking, nicer design, the F&S is a little more rugged looking.
