    Hey Guys:

Got a great father’s day / birthday gift in the mail today.

Before I get started sharpening, I’m slightly concerned on the jaws with the field and sport pro model.

Instead of having the holes for setting blade depth as with the other WE jaws, this has small recess.

What concerns me is that this recess is fairly wide….approx 0.050″.

With the pinch that the bottom screw creates, I’m sure it would hold a blade slightly smaller than that.

Before I get sharpening and loose the opportunity for an exchange, just wanted to get some input on if you guys think the normal jaws are big upgrade over the field and sport jaws….

One possible work around for thin blades would be shim stock (feeler blade material)…

Also wondering if anyone else has this model, how you like the C-clamp for holding it down vs. the granite base….

Thanks ahead guys for the input.

(Realize now I did not probably put this in the correct forum, apologize for that guys).

Hopefully someone who has experience with the field and sport will chime in… I would shoot Clay a pm as well.

From what I am picturing it is similar to the low angle accessory in that it has a recess for the spine to sit on (which is the same as the Professional model as well). I do not like this personally as it does have more limits than the normal jaw. But if you don’t have super small knives like a swiss army knife or really thin stuff it shouldn’t be a problem.
