    Hi,

I went to get out my chosera stones to do some sharpening, and noticed that both of my 5000 grit stones have big cracks in them. In fact, one of them basically cracked in half. I need to know if I did something wrong. I try to soak minimally during sessions and lap/dry them off and set them out to dry after every session. Also, is there anyway to repair the stones? Or are they ruined? I thought about lapping them down, but the cracks literally go all the way through. Interesting that none of my other stones cracked (including the 10000’s), and I did the same routine with all of them. Any help would be appreciated! I don’t want this to happen to any of the others!

Hi Michael. I am new to sharpening but I was wondering how old or how many knives you have sharpened with these stones?

Welcome to the forum. Sorry it’s not under better circumstances.

I found a sorta related thread that has some info… Chosera stones: soaking?

I’m not sure if it can be repaired.

Edit: p.s. Images have to be a fairly small file size to post, in case you’re wondering why yours didn’t, that may be why.
