With a Dexter Boning knife mounted in the vice with the depth key in the top position, the stones hit the vice and scratch the vice.

I’m using the 18 degree recommendation in the manual. How do I keep from ruining the vice with the stones. See attached.

    Thanks

Two things you can do. One raise the knife in the block and two go for 20-22 Degrees on the cutting angle. It will cut just fine. This is one of those things that the second generation arm kit will resolve. You will do just fine.

huh, that’s weird why your stone appears to be hitting the vise at a point lower than the very tip… is your vise bent or not straight? whenever i have the issue it hits at the very tip (circled in blue) and not where yours hits (circled in red). In any case, yeah, you just need to increase the angle on your angle bar at the bottom and you should be fine…

Mine hits at the same point, just above the top set of holes.
