    Hey guys,

Just wanted to say the proper hellos as a new member of the forum. I have been using a Wicked Edge for a couple years now and absolutely love it. After I became a firefighter I started carrying better quality knives(Benchmade mainly) and cutting tools since the lives of others, and my own, could very well depend on the tools I carry. Now that I had the proper cutting tools I subsequently needed a quality sharpener. My search ended with Wicked Edge and I haven’t looked back.

I currently have the Pro Pack I with the upgraded ball joint arms. I’ve been able to consistently produce razor sharp edges that are extremely uniform with this system. It was a breath of fresh air after being frustrated with the learning curve of traditional wet stones.

Just a quick question, I’m looking to get an new stone to bridge the gap better between the 1000 grit diamond and my leather strops. What are guys using or recommend?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jason

    Jason,

Welcome. The Pro Pack 2 has the 1.4 and .6 micron ceramics. There are also the 1200/1600 ceramics in between those, and then a variety of pastes and sprays for the strops beyond those.

    Hi Jason,

Welcome to the forum! And glad you like your WEPS.

I’d also recommend the ceramic stones. Either the 1200/1600 (my preference) or the 1.4/0.6. A favorite progression of mine is 1K -> 1200 -> 1600 -> 5 mu diamond paste -> 3.5 mu diamond paste.

But if you want to try something different, you could also get Chosera stones. The 2K/3K work nicely after the 1K diamonds. And if you think you won’t use it very often, you could also go for the diamond lapping film. 6 mu and then 3 u will work fine after the 1K diamonds.
