My name is Dakota, I ordered my PP1, and a couple extra sets of stones and strops just a few days ago. I’ve been an admirer of the WEPS for a couple of years now, and just recently justified the cost to myself.
I am an avid knife nut. My favorite folding knife company is Spyderco, and my favorite fixed blade knife company is Busse, along with Swamp Rat. I am now moving into the custom world, and decided that I should also move into the serious world of atom splitting sharpness. I have been hand sharpening my fixed blades for about a year now, and I’ve been using a Lansky sharpener up to the 600 grit stone for my folders. The results I got after HOURS of touch ups, re-profiles, and general sharpening were what I believed to be “sharp”.
Now I’m ready for the next level. I enjoy reading the articles here, and I appreciate what I have seen from Clay regarding Customer service. It makes me feel comfortable knowing my money is going to a company that cares about its customers.
That’s about all folks!
Glad to be here,

Welcome to the forum! I hope you’re gonna enjoy your WEPS, but reading your words I’m sure you will.

10/12/2014 at 5:54 pm #20823Welcome, Dakota…
Might not be the first knife you take out of the vise but one of the first few knives you sharpen you’ll take out of the vise, begin testing it, stop, smile to yourself with great satisfaction.
In that moment your investment will have paid for itself.
It seems that the best of the best tend to gather here on this forum.
My own research (and now experience) led me to the Wicked Edge. Great sharpener, great customer service, great forum.
Welcome aboard.

10/13/2014 at 4:31 am #20826Lots of helpful people here and very interesting topics if you are serious about sharp knives. I went the same route as you. I saw the advantage of guided angle sharpening and took the time on the one sided stuff and dreamed of the Wicked Edge so I could do both at the same time. Way more precise, Way more options…and a whole new insight to what sharp is and what that all encompasses. There is a lot of science to it and you can get into it as much or as little as you want..You will have sharper knives with the WE. I am happy I got this sharpener. stick around..you will learn a lot!
Welcome!

10/14/2014 at 6:08 am #20853Welcome to the forum. Lot’s of good info and good people here. I know the urge is overwhelming, but don’t use your favorite knife as your first one. Save it until you get the hang of the WEPS and break in the diamond stones. Then you will really be amazed.
10/14/2014 at 6:39 am #20854Thanks everyone. I will have my sharpener this weekend, and intend to sharpen a lot of my less expensive knives to both get the hang of the technique, and to break in the stones. I will probably have questions as I go, so I won’t be going anywhere anytime soon 🙂
10/14/2014 at 6:45 am #20856Watch this! Answered a lot of questions. Sooo so worth the time.
10/16/2014 at 10:46 pm #20875Well, some pretty upsetting news today. I received my package from Amazon that was supposed to contain the PP1, the Super Fine Ceramics, and the 1/.5 micron strops, only…there was no PP1 in the box. Just a solid black paperstone base with cardboard corners, wrapped in bubble wrap with a little sticker on top that said “Wicked Edge Pro Pack 1”. Strops were there. But no Wicked Edge. Really pretty upsetting to say the least. I knew I should have ordered it straight from WEPS.
10/16/2014 at 11:03 pm #20877sometimes they ship in two or more packages… think that happened? I would contact amazon…
10/16/2014 at 11:23 pm #20878No, it was 1 package. I received the wrong item. I contacted Amazon, and Oldawan Tools To Stay Sharp who was the seller for Amazon.
Bob from Oldawan was very helpful, and confirmed that something was obviously very wrong, and talked to Amazon as well. He couldn’t do a whole lot, so I talked to Amazon and am getting a refund for the cost of the PP1. So now I’ve got some strops, some ceramics, a weird paperstone base, and 2-3 days before I can order my PP1 again. Just a bummer because I was really looking forward to getting it. Now I have to wait again.
But as far as shipping in 2 boxes, no. It all shipped in 1 box, and that box literally contained the 2 little boxes with my stones and strops, and a paperstone base. Nothing else. Looks like I’ll just have to order it again.
10/17/2014 at 12:57 am #20882Hello everyone,
My name is Frank and I live in the Netherlands 30 km from Amsterdam.
So I started also sharping my knives with the wicked edge.
After some practicing on my kitchenknives which become really sharp I enjoy it very much.
Than something happend with me and now I collecting knives.
I guess I got myself a new hobby.
I did a lot of research of sharpingsystems which I wanted to use and the wicked edge was for me the absolute winner.
