I need a little guidance here from the experts.. My progression starts at the 100/200, 400/600 diamond stones, and like everyone else, I’m waiting for my 800/100 and 1200/1600 ceramics, (the waiting is NOT my point here)When those latter stones arrive, my progression will be complete using the stones. Next I’ve purchased 1800, 2000, 2250 and 2500 “Micro Mesh” cloth from a local supplier. My question is, would this be the correct choice for the “go between” prior to stropping??
I also have leather strops and I use 6 Micron and 3 Micron diamond paste. The second part of the question is, should I start with the 14 Micron and 10 Micron pastes, after using the “Micro Mesh” cloth, or go with 6 Micron and 3 Micron pastes and possibly use the 1 Micron and the .5 micron pastes?
I’ve been getting really great results using my WEPS in the above described progression. Mirrored polished edges, hair whittling and push cutting, was at first something I wasn’t sure I could achieve, and now … those are not even concerns.
Now, after seeing the pics posted here and reading the discussions, my OCD is getting the best of me and I’m looking to enhance my sharpeniing techniques.

This was an easier answer until last week!

Although I’ve never used the micromesh, I think the micromesh following the ceramics will be a good continuation. You should get some pretty good results from that.

When going to the pastes, as we’re finding out, it may or may not be necessary to hit the 14 and 10 micron after the micromesh. For perfection sake, I would try them, and if you feel there is no real improvement, then go directly to the 5 and 3.5 pastes.

Let us know how it turns out! 🙂

These are the results of the stone and strop progression I’ve been using …Picked up a Kershaw 1660 G-10 yesterday and gave it a try.
