    Clay, any plans to modify or upgrade Gen 3 clamp to allow for lower sharpening angles than present ability?

    Clay, any plans to modify or upgrade Gen 3 clamp to allow for lower sharpening angles than present ability? Marc

    Marc,

    We don’t have any plans along those lines at the moment, other than making the Low Angle Adapter available. The biggest issue is that the shoulders of the jaws need to be pretty beefy to withstand the force at the pins. We actually had a guy try to mount a knife that was a hair too thick into his vise and the side with the depth slots busted clean off. That illustrates just how much force is being applied there. If we were to thin it down, it would be too weak. If we kept the pivot point where it is but made the jaws extend higher about them, we’d lose a lot of mechanical advantage and the clamping force would be much less. We are very open to ideas though…
